The finals will come down to David Archuleta and David Cook.

Do you prefer the innocent, beautiful voice of Archuleta? Or the risky, exciting choices made by Cook? To help viewers decide, here's a look at the pair's most memorable performances so far this season:

Are you a David Archuleta fan...

... or a David Cook supporter?

Ruben Studdard to Sing American Idol Farewell Song

Ruben Studdard Image Ruben Studdard is back on the radar of American Idol.

The Season 2 champion, whose albums haven't exactly topped the charts, will perform the "farewell song" used to play off contestants as they are eliminated from the top 12 this season. The song will be a cover of Kenny Loggins' "Celebrate Me Home," in a new version produced by Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam.

"It's very soulful, very heartfelt," Lewis said. "Ruben is singing his pants off."

Season 5's farewell song, Daniel Powter's "Bad Day," went on to sell 1.9 million copies and was the top digital download of 2006.

An Ode to Michael Johns

We love our readers. One of them submitted the following poem. It's an ode to Michael Johns:

Hes been called a White Soul Singer
Cause hes Just got it
He can light your fire
With his Australian accent

He melted our hearts
When he sang Queen
Bohemian Rhapsody
Was such a dream

Michael Johns Picture

He will be hard to beat
He is The Awesome Aussie
His name is Michael Johns
From The Aussie Posse

He has the looks
And the charisma as well
Will he be the next American Idol
Only time will tell

So, dont forget to Vote
Cause its up to you
Lets get our guy up there
If not the winner
Then at least, the Top two!

Randy Jackson Greets Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is totally one of Randy Jackson's dawgs.

Then again, who isn't? The American Idol judge has love - and a fist bump - for seemingly everyone...

Yo, Dawg!

David Archuleta and Brooke White: A Look, A Listen

Following their performances this week, it might be safe to say that David Archuleta and Brooke White are the favorites on American Idol.

The former caused Paula Abdul to cry with his rendition of "Imagine" by John Lennon; while the latter showed how simple this competition can be: all you need is a stool, a guitar and a beautiful voice to turn Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" into a delightful, modern tune.

Check out each audition now and let us know your favorite...

American Idol Permitted to Use Beatles Songs

The powers that be behind The Beatles songbook have finally given American Idol permission to use its tunes on the world's favorite reality show.

"It's something we've waited for for seven seasons now. Sony has agreed to release the Lennon and McCartney songbook to us," producer Nigel Lythgoe told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show.

"Everyone's so good this season they're saying, 'Yeah, go ahead, please sing the songs.' And especially after [David Archuleta] sang the Lennon song last night. How good was that?"

Answer: quite good!

David Archuleta: Easy to Imagine as Champion

Imagine David Archuleta as an American Idol champion.

It isn't hard to do.

Following his moving performance of the John Lennon song "Imagine" last night, this 17-year is easily this season's favorite. Just consider the praise heaped upon Archuleta by Simon Cowell:

Very, very risky to do a John Lennon song, particularly that one, but it worked. There are 19 very miserable contestants sitting here tonight. Trust me. You’re the one to beat.

While this David is dominating the headlines, a couple others put on solid performances: the judges had mostly positive things to say about David Cook and David Hernandez, as well.

But Archuleta ruled the night. Do you think he'll win?

American Idol Castoffs Open Up

As viewers get set to vote off more American Idol contestants this week (two of our predictions: Brooke White and Jason Yeager), here are interviews MTV conducted with the quartet that got the boost after last week's auditions:

Q: How did you choose "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do" as the song that would introduce you to America?
Garrett Haley: I didn't really get to choose it. We're allowed to choose three songs from a list. Every contestant is for sure to get one of the songs, and I didn't get to get any of my songs because they gave the songs out to all the contestants before that.

So I just ended up with having to choose from the list again. And I didn't really get to choose, they just threw the song at me and said, "Here, sing this one." [He laughs.] And I was like, "OK." It was a total surprise to me, but I took what I got, and I did what I could do with it.

Q: Were you surprised you were voted off?
Amy Davis: I was not surprised. I was actually waiting for Ryan to call my name. ... It's really just a technical issue on my part, why it was a bad performance. There's nothing I can do about that. I did the best I could, and it was just the fact of me not being able to hear myself. It's not an "American Idol" issue or a sound issue on their part; it's the way my brain works. I've been using in-ear monitors for the last two years consistently.

My brain is trained to use the in-ear monitors, which blare my vocal in my ear so I can stay on pitch. Obviously, when I came to "American Idol," I knew I was not going to be allowed to use my in-ears, so I tried to retrain my ears to use the floor monitors ... and I just could not retrain my ears quick enough.

Simon Cowell Gets His Oscar Party On

Simon Cowell took time away from judging season seven contestants such as Jason Castro to pose for a picture with Ellen DeGeneres and her girlfriend Portia de Rossi at Elton John's 16th annual AIDS Foundation Oscar party.

We wonder how the American Idol judge critiqued the event...
