Ryan Seacrest Donates Paycheck to Charity

Ryan Seacrest will be hosting Idol Gives Back tomorrow night. But his bank account won't know it.

The American Idol host has handed over his paycheck for the evening.

A source close to Seacrest told People Magazine that he wanted to show fans that he was serious about the cause. We think it's a great example from which others can learn a lot.

A Good Man

“When he and Simon went to Africa last year and saw the children, it was really life-altering for him,” said the insider. “He just knew he had to do his part and be willing to put his money where his mouth is.”

Idol Gives Back, which also features appearances from Brad Pitt, Miley Cyrus and a slew of other celebrities, airs tomorrow night on FOX. We encourage all to watch and pledge money.

American Idol Picture of the Day: Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest at Play

There wasn't much doubt that Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest were not the antagonists they often pretend to be on America Idol.

But any shadow of it should now be erased after these two celebrities were caught playing together in a pool in Miami. Aren't they adorable?

Emmy Awards Host It's official: Ryan Seacrest is the host of everything.

The American Idol emcee was recently put in charge of the Super Bowl festivities in February.

Now, he's tapped to host the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards.

"Ryan Seacrest appeals to a broad audience, including the highly desirable young adult demographic, so he should serve as a magnet for attracting a diverse array of viewers to our Emmy telecast," said Dick Askin, chairman and chief executive officer of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

American Idol Picture of the Day: Ryan Seacrest Hangs with the Scum of The Hills

Ryan Seacrest doesn't just host American Idol.

He also leads a radio show on an L.A. radio station - and was stuck doing an interview with the bane of reality television existence earlier this week.

Yes, that's Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, stars of MTV's The Hills, by the side of our favorite metrosexual host. We hope he took a long shower after this photo was taken...

Ryan Seacrest Wants Lots of Children

Ryan Seacrest is currently the host with the most gigs, serving as moderator for American Idol; his own Los Angeles-based radio show; the E! network's E! News; and various other endeavors, but the 32-year-old apparently has babies on the brain.

"I think it would be tough, but I definitely look forward to a little girl and a little boy," Seacrest told In Touch Weekly in the magazine's July 23 issue and Reality TV World reported. "I want more than five but less than 10."

Bring on the Babies!

Seacrest and Simon Cowell traveled to Africa in March as part of the reality competition series' sixth-season Idol Gives Back charity event. While the Fox telethon raised $70 million to benefit organizations that provide relief to children and young people living in poverty in Africa and America, Seacrest said it also opened his eyes to something he can enjoy in addition to being everywhere in the entertainment industry.

"I like to spend time with kids," he said simply.

Ironically, one reason Seacrest said he has an affinity for children is because they share many of the same qualities as Cowell.

"They are probably the most honest individuals on the planet," Seacrest said. "They will tell you if you're good, bad, fat or skinny."

Ryan Seacrest Points Finger Over American Idol Ratings Decline

A New Star Ryan Seacrest says he knows why American Idol took a ratings hit this season.

It's the fault of the show's most visible presence: Simon Cowell.

When asked about the decline, reports Canada’s Globe and Mail, Seacrest replied, “Well, the knee-jerk reaction would be Simon.”

Seacrest says there’s just too much of the acid-tongued judge: “Clearly there’s an over saturation of his character.”

The host then pointed out that the ratings are still high, and addressed buzz that bosses want to change some of the judges (such as replacing Randy and Paula with Britney Spears).

“That’s clearly rumor,” he said. “I’m positive you can’t recreate the chemistry that we have with the group on American Idol."

Ryan Seacrest Defends Himself to Melinda Doolittle

For the record: we don't care about the sexuality of Ryan Seacrest.

As long he continues his witty banter with Simon Cowell, we're pleased.

But some people care about this sort of thing. Such Seacrest himself, evidently. We overheard him whispering to Melinda Doolittle during the results show Wednesday night ...

Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest: All An Act?

We hope this doesn't rock the worlds of too many fans - but Simon Cowell might actually be a nice guy.

Moreover, he might actually get along with Ryan Seacrest.

Ryan and Simon An American Idol insider has leaked that Simon’s witty yet scathing comments are scripted, noting that his on-camera scuffles with Seacrest - as well as cruel remarks to contestants - are carefully crafted beforehand.

“Most of these rifts have been outlined. Simon and Ryan are real good friends off-camera," the source said. "When the show is on the road for auditions, the two go for drinks and dinner.”

The source also revealed that the show’s top producer picks who Cowell will fall out with between the other two judges, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson.

“The executive producer of the show, Nigel Lythgoe, watches the rehearsals and writes notes on who Simon should make nasty comments about. That’s what’s on the sheets of paper on the judging desk," this person said. "Simon is not the evil guy you think he is. The truth is Ryan is just as focused on the show’s popularity as Simon. There’s no real drama. It’s all for the camera."
