FOX: Paula Abdul Interview had Technical Difficulties

Paula AbdulBy now, you've probably seen or heard about the recent Paula Abdul interview, during which the American Idol judge seemed rather out of it.

FOX has released the following statement regarding the incident;

"All of us at Fox have tremendous respect and admiration for Paula Abdul. She is a consummate professional who always gives 100% to everything she does. Last week, during a satellite press tour there were intermittent technical difficulties, including severe audio issues in which multiple stations were speaking to her at once.

"Rather than getting angry about these difficulties, or stopping the tour, Paula forged ahead and decided to have fun with the increasingly challenging situation. Unfortunately, because reporters and viewers were unaware of the situation, her humor was misconstrued."

Paula Abdul to Star in Reality Show

PaulaCould this crazy behavior have been a PR stunt?

Its seems like a possibility now that the announcement has been made of a reality show starring Paula Abdul. The former dancer has agreed to a deal with bosses at Bravo to turn her life into a new series.

The unnamed show will focus on Abdul's work on American Idol as well as her private life, along with her new role as executive producer of the new film Bratz: The Movie - based on the popular dolls for kids.

"I'm excited to open the doors to Bravo and have all my fans see the other sides to me, beyond what they see on American Idol," said Abdul.

Paula Abdul: Drunk? Stoned? High on Life?

We can't even venture a guess as to what was wrong with Paula Abdul in this clip. We hope she's okay.

But it's worth taking a look at how she answers questions about recent American Idol auditions in Seattle:

Paula Abdul: Simon Cowell Saved My Job

Paula and Simon Maybe Simon Cowell isn't the meanest person in the world.

After all, fellow judge Paula Abdul says that she might have been fired from American Idol if Cowell hadn't come to her rescue.

In today's New York Post, Paula says that when allegations surfaced that she'd had an inappropriate affair with Corey Clark during Idol's second season, it was Cowell who ultimately stepped up for her.

"He was extremely distraught and protective and supportive of me when that happened," says Abdul. "There's the times when he's like a big brother – or a lover."

Of course, as Americal Idol fans know well, Paula also said it's not all wine and roses with Cowell:

"When he's just annoyed, I get the brunt of it."

But, wait a minute, did she say lover?!?

Paula Abdul, Friends at the Walk of Fame

Things are looking up for American Idol judge and former Los Angeles Lakers choreographer Paula Abdul as she, NBA legend Magic Johnson and Snoop Dogg (who was recently arrested for drug possession) pay tribute to Lakers owner Jerry Buss at a Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Monday.

Paula, Snoop & Magic

Either our favorite American Idol music critic is really short... or Magic Johnson and Snoop Dogg are really tall. Probably a combination thereof. Suffice it to say, Snoop may be a successful musician and pop culture icon, but after his recent drug bust, he may be threatening his status as Randy Jackson's dawg.

Paula Abdul Named Woman of the Year

She may not be winning our poll of favorite American Idol judge, but Simon and Randy's cohort still has something to smile about.

Indeed, Paula Abdul has been named the Nevada Ballet Theater's 2007 "Woman of the Year" for her efforts in dance and choreography.

Yay for Paula!

A rep for the Ballet told TMZ.com that Paula's "warm personality and talent have touched every aspect of the arts and entertainment world. Paula exemplifies the qualities we look for in an honoree."

Abdul, a former Los Angeles Lakers dancer, will join honorees like Rita Rudner, Celine Dion, Chita Rivera and Carol Channing, when she picks up the award at the Ballet's annual Black and White Ball on January 27 at the Wynn Las Vegas.

Paula Abdul is For Sale!

Well, sort of. Read on.

If you've ever wanted to witness the ramblings of American Idol judge Paula Abdul up-close and personal, well, now you can... and for a good cause!

A new eBay auction promises an all-inclusive trip for two to meet the Idol judge in all her amazed, inspired, sometimes indecipherable glory.

Paul Abdul: Pop Diva, American Idol Judge

The VIP package includes first class airfare to Los Angeles, transportation via limousine, accommodations at the five-star Peninsula Hotel, two $1,000 AmEx gift cards, and tickets to a live taping of American Idol, followed by a meet and greet with the pint-size pop star and TV personality.

Bids are starting at $25,000 with all proceeds going towards The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. The auction for this important cause ends September 24.

Be forewarned, however: The winner is required to sign a waiver "absolving all parties of liability for potential injuries, loss or harm which may be incurred."

Huh? We've always thought Paula was kinda scary, sure, but apparently she's even more dangerous than we ever imagined! At least Simon Cowell probably stops at berating people.

Want to Audition In Front of Simon? Go Ahead!

Hit TV shows seldom make for hit video games. American Idol has already been translated into the medium, and the game flopped.

Yet another video game company, Konami, thinks it can succeed with its own version of TV's top reality show. Why? The interaction. The judges. The songs. How can you go wrong, right? "Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol" for PlayStation 2, due out this winter, will allow gamers to sing into a microphone and get their crooning rated by the show's judges.

Auditioning on American Idol, Video Game StyleTwo of them, anyway. Konami announced that its game will include digital versions of Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson. The much-maligned Paula Abdul will not be appearing, and no one has said why. AIW can only begin to imagine.

"For anyone who wants to know what it's like to audition in front of me, now you're going to find out," Cowell said, according to press release issued recently by Konami.

While Paula won't appear in cyber form to be amazed and inspired by your efforts, she'll be there in spirit, VH1 reports -- a cover of her song "Straight Up" will be among the 40 tracks players can sing to in the game.

Also included will be Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway," Taylor Hicks' "Do I Make You Proud," Ruben Studdard's "Flying Without Wings," Bo Bice's "The Real Thing" and the Clay Aiken staple "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me."

Rounding out the track list are covers of songs such as Duran Duran's "Hungry Like the Wolf" and the William Hung / Ricky Martin classic, "She Bangs."

The "Karaoke Revolution" game requires players to sing along to versions of popular songs. The games typically depict a lone singer performing onstage. The crowd cheers, and lights and pyro flash when the player's singing is at the right pitch. The effects stop and the boos rain down upon you when the singing clangs.

Konami's "Idol" game will bring wannabe players through each of the show's signature stages, from audition venues to the finals. They can rise through the ranks of a solo-singing campaign or play with friends in sing-offs and duets. According to the company, the game will also include video footage of performances from the past five seasons' winners.
