David Cook is featured in the following preview for season eight of American Idol.

The premiere we've all been waiting for airs on January 13.

We're exactly two weeks away from the release of David Cook's debut album.

The first official single off that CD is titled "Light On" and you can check outs its music video below:

David Cook is the musical guest on tomorrow night's Saturday Night Live, which will be hosted by Ben Affleck.

How is the American Idol champion feeling about such an honor?

"I grew up watching it like everybody else so to be apart of it in any capacity is obviously a huge honor," he said, before adding that he's "really nervous."

But Cook has a model goal for the evening:

"I'm going to make sure my shoelaces are tied so I don’t trip and fall on the floor!"

On November 18, the self-titled debut album from David Cook is released.

Reportedly, “The Time Of My Life," which is currently receiving airtime on radio stations, will be included as a bonus track.

With his album due out November 18, David Cook has just released his first single from it.

It's called “Light On” an here are the song's lyrics:

For now.

The real battle between these two American Idol finalists will go down in November, when each releases his debut CD.

But David Archuleta's first single, "Crush," has outperformed David Cook's initial song so far.

Archie's "Crush" debuted at number-two on the Hot 100 singles chart, a knockout blow to Cook's number-three bow in June with "The Time of My Life."

As a result, David A. is the first American Idol runner-up to out-rank the winner in head-to-head single competition since Clay Aiken outsold Ruben Studdard in 2003. And we all know how the future for those two artists turned out.

Stay tuned to see if Archuleta can have Aiken-like success in the future!

On an unspecified date in November, both David Cook and David Archuleta are expected to release their debut albums.
