David Archuleta is Kissless

David Archuleta recently gave an interview to Seventeen.

We've excerpted parts of it below, but one response stands out the most: the 17-year old American Idol finalist says he's never kissed a girl.

We can think of a few million females that would like to change that...

When was your first kiss?
I haven’t had a first kiss.

What's the girly movie you secretly love?
I only know of one, and it was good: A Walk to Remember. I hear so much about The Notebook, but I've never seen it. That's the one all the girls were like, "Aww!"

What's your dream job?

To be doing what I am now, only more developed and have more experience in this. But this is my dream job, that's what's funny about it! I never thought I'd be here. I’m in the recording studio right now, just looking at the mics and the headphones and it’s crazy! If not music, I think it would be pretty cool to be an ear, nose, and throat doctor.

David Archuleta Signs Record Contract

In a less-than-stunning development, David Archuleta has signed a record contract with 19 Recordings/Jive Records.

This season's runner-up referred to the deal as "truly a dream come true,” and added that "I’m really excited to start working on everything.”

Archy

The Utah native and fan favorite already has three songs on the Hot 100 chart, including his memorable versions of “Imagine” and “In This Moment,” the song he performed on the American Idol finale.

Through it all, Archuleta remains humble and cautious, recently saying “school is really important, especially after all this ends. It would be nice to make a living off of it but you never know.”

We know, David. We know.

Exclusive Dish from the Davids!

With last night behind them, David Cook and David Archuleta can finally breathe a sigh of relief. No more performance. No more pressure.

Just one final results show this evening.

Before they took the stage for that heart-pounding event, though, each sat down with Entertainment Weekly. Here are excerpts from their interviews...

How did you go about choosing your second and third songs?
David Cook: With the songwriters' competition [song], I listened to the first 30 seconds of each song, and ''Dream Big'' was the one that grabbed me the quickest, so I figured if that's the case, I should probably follow my instinct and just do something with it. And I was actually happy with the way it turned out.

A Finals Performance

My third song [Collective Soul's ''The World I Know''] — I've wanted to do that song all season, and I just never really got comfortable with the arrangement until a few weeks ago. And I almost did it last week. You know, it was a song that means a lot to me. It's just an amazing song, so to be able to do it on the show, win, lose, or draw, it was more fun than I could possibly put into words.

How do you think Archuleta did tonight?
Oh, the kid did amazing. He's such an immense talent, so to be able to share the stage with him tonight was a huge thrill for me.

An Interview with David Archuleta

American Idol favorite David Archuleta recently spoke with Billboard.com about his experience on the show. Here are highlights of the interview:

Neil Diamond called you a prodigy and a lot of people think you have an incredible gift for music. How does that feel?

I still feel weird when people say, "you're a good singer," because I've never looked at myself like that. I've always looked at myself as someone who loves music and loves to try and interpret it as I see it.

Humbled

It seems like you're always emotionally connected to the lyrics you're singing.

When I was younger, I didn't know what made me sing the song differently or how I sang it. I still don't really understand fully, but the lyrics do mean a lot to me now, a lot more than before. I didn't even pay attention to the lyrics when I was 12, 13.

Probably around the second year I did "Star Search" is when I paid more attention to the lyrics. I thought the music itself had such a power to it and now that I've understood how powerful lyrics are as well, I think that has allowed me to progress.

Elliott Yamin: Let's Go David Archuleta!

Elliott Yamin PhotoThis is getting exciting.

First, Jordin Sparks endorsed David Cook as this year's American Idol champion.

Now, Elliott Yamin has done the same... for David Archuleta!

"It would be really cool to see a young kid like him win," Yamin said to Entertainment Weekly. "I really love his songs, and musically, he's very talented. He plays the guitar, piano... it's nice to see [Idol] bringing out the creative sides of those kids."

As for the other male contenders, Elliott?

"No one's really impressed me this season," he said. "David Cook is okay, Michael Johns (since eliminated) is alright, but it's anybody's game at this point."
