David Archuleta Debuts at Number-Two

David Archuleta's self-titled debut album landed at number-two on The Billboard 200 album sales chart last week. It sold 183,000 copies during its initial week of release.

The American Idol runner-up's debut sales numbers were far higher than that of sixth-season second place finisher Blake Lewis, whose debut "Audio Day Dream" sold 98,000 units.

Archuleta's first-week debut album sales are the best for an American Idol runner-up since Bo Bice in 2005. Well done, Archie!

David Archuleta Gives Props to David Cook

David Archuleta has a message for his fans:

“I hope everyone’s liking the album! And thanks for sending in your opinions on what songs you like the most! I love hearing about what you guys think, and really appreciate the great comments you’ve all been making.”

Darling David

The season seven runner-up was also generous in the recent interview, encouraging fans to purchase David Cook’s album, which came out today:

“I just want to remind everyone that Cook’s album is coming out tomorrow! So don’t forget to show your support, and be prepared to listen to some awesome stuff!”

David Archuleta Completes First Acting Gig

With his first acting gig behind him, David Archuleta won't reveal whether it was more nerve-racking to read lines in front of the camera, or try to sing songs on American Idol.

But the seventh season runner-up does sound like he enjoyed filming a guest-starring stint on the show iCarly.

"I was nervous and thought I'd be awful at acting, but the whole experience felt really comfortable and came pretty easily since I was allowed to play myself," the singer told Us Weekly.

iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove, pictured here with David, had nothing but positive reviews for Archuleta. No surprise there.

"He was really good. He said it was his first big acting part and he just kind of came in and we didn't even rehearse or anything. We just went for it and it went really well."

Might more acting be in Archuleta's future?

"You do need a good memory for the dialogue, and I'll have to work on that, but it would be fun to continue acting," he said. "With iCarly, I also got to hang out with kids my own age for a change, and that was a real bonus."

Look for Archuleta's episode to air in February.

David Archuleta, God Bless America

Game One between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Boston Red Sox in this year's American League Championship Series featured a low-scoring affair won by Boston, 2-0.

It also featured American Idol runner-up David Archuleta on the microphone.

He sung "God Bless America" during the seventh inning stretch. Take a look and a listen:

Acting Debut Lined Up for David Archuleta

David Archuleta may be nervous about the November 11 release of his debut album.

But there's a good chance this American Idol runner-up is even more afraid of an upcoming guest-starring stint on the Nickelodeon sitcom iCarly.

Archuleta will appear on an episode, which will air this spring, that depicts him as a contestant on a show called "America Sings." Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

The D.A.

According to show executive producer and creator Dan Schneider, the singer was an easy choice for the part:

"iCarly is all about super-talented teens so David Archuleta is an ideal fit."

Behind the Scenes with David Archuleta

With the debut album from David Archuleta set to hit stores next month, the former American Idol runner-up will be making the publicity rounds a lot over the next few weeks.

In the following video, fans get go behind the scenes of a recent photo shoot with the talented, adorable singer...

David Archuleta is More Popular than David Cook

For now.

The real battle between these two American Idol finalists will go down in November, when each releases his debut CD.

But David Archuleta's first single, "Crush," has outperformed David Cook's initial song so far.

Archie's "Crush" debuted at number-two on the Hot 100 singles chart, a knockout blow to Cook's number-three bow in June with "The Time of My Life."

Ding! Ding!

As a result, David A. is the first American Idol runner-up to out-rank the winner in head-to-head single competition since Clay Aiken outsold Ruben Studdard in 2003. And we all know how the future for those two artists turned out.

Stay tuned to see if Archuleta can have Aiken-like success in the future!
