Blake Lewis Gives Thanks to American Idol

We don't know for sure.

But we do know that the second place finisher is at no loss for fans. While Jordin Sparks may have been named American Idol this season, there's no doubt Blake has a bright future ahead of him. As he performs below in front of numerous fans, it's not difficult to imagine what he's thinking...

Blake Reaches Out

Blake Lewis: Doing Great, Excited for American Idol Tour

How is Blake Lewis feeling following his second place finish on American Idol? Just dandy, thanks for asking. He speaks with MTV below...

MTV: Let's talk about the album. Any news on that?
Lewis: You know, I can only hope in the next, like, two weeks or before the tour that I get signed and get management. Things take [their] course, it seems, from the show. Hopefully I get represented by the creative people I surround myself with and get to make the album I've always wanted to. I've tried to stay true to myself this whole entire time, and I think I've represented myself as creatively as I could with what I got on the show. So I'm excited to do that even more so singing my own songs I've written and, you know, just be me 110 percent.

What a Cutie! MTV: We caught up with your parents on the red carpet and they were telling us all about some of the stuff that you have written. Can you fill us in?
Lewis: My style's like if you took Jamiroquai and mixed it with Citizen Cope. It's like G. Love & Special Sauce. It's more groove-oriented, danceable, though. I love electronic music, I love hip-hop and loop-based music. I want to do that, but I want do that on a more organic tip. You know, have my drummer come in, but then edit the drums and program them and make them crazy and tweak them out. Make a really good danceable, feel-good album, but with a really good jazzy, melodic twist on that.

MTV: If you had any dream collaborator in the studio, who would you pick?
Lewis: B.T. He's my favorite producer pretty much ever. I've been talking to him. He hasn't seen American Idol, but I opened for him a long time ago and he wanted to work a long time ago. And now we have the opportunity to maybe get together and work. It's not official, but I talked to him for a couple hours about it.
There's so many amazing producers out there that are more underground. I like DJ Shadow, I love Dan the Automator. Will.I.Am is an amazing producer, and he lives in that realm of hip-hop, dance and pop. ... I'd love to work with anyone that would really want to work with me. I'd love to work with Danger Mouse and Gnarls Barkley and Cee-Lo. Robin Thicke ... The possibilities are endless. I'm putting it out there. If you want to do something, call me!

MTV: We saw on the show that you were always rearranging stuff. Would you ever be interested in producing stuff yourself?
Lewis: I have my own studio at home. I haven't produced, obviously, on a larger scale, but I'd love to. I love making things. I love going from the improv realm and the more jazz-based instant creation, you know, being in front of an audience and creating for them. My music comes from that. All my stuff is live, and then I take it home and I rearrange it, then I write to live music I did in front of people. I'd love to do that with other artists.

MTV: What can we expect on the tour?
Lewis: Tour! Oh, I'm very excited about the tour, because I get to use my loop pedals and my guitar. We're all playing instruments this time. That's never been done before. I think maybe Chris Daughtry played some guitar last year. But everyone plays a different instrument, like Chris Richardson plays drums; he's been playing drums for, like, 15 years. Chris Sligh plays guitar, Phil Stacey can play keyboard, I play guitar and keyboard, bass.

For me, I'm excited because I'm gonna do a one-man band show because I have all my loop pedals from beatboxing and then I play guitar and sing over that, so I'm gonna do kind of like a little medley that I used to do — the only two songs that I used to ever cover. One of them I sang on the show.

MTV: Which one was that?
Lewis: [Maroon 5's] "She Will Be Loved." So I'll probably do that on tour. I have a really cool arrangement that I'd like to do.

Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks Talk About American Idol Experience

Following the results show Wednesday night., USA Today got a brief interview in with a pair of singers hoping to be named your next American Idol.

Here's what Blake Lewis had to say first:

As a musician who puts a lot of effort into arranging his songs, will it be easy or difficult to work with record producers?
“I work really well with other people. I’ve already started writing many songs and started recording demos the whole time I was here. Before American Idol, I was already working on an album. I’ve got at least six or seven tracks right now that could be on an album."

How important is it for you to win the competition and be the American Idol?
“I just view it day by day. I’ve never thought of it as a competition. I just want to go out and do my best each time I’m out there. If I win, that’s great. Jordin was my pick since the beginning to be the American Idol.”

Blake and Jordin

Were you surprised by the elimination of Melinda Doolittle, considered by many to be the favorite?
“I think everyone was surprised each week so, I mean, yeah, I was surprised.”

Did you say anything to Melinda on stage after the elimination?

“I just told her I loved her and to knock it out.”

How’s your energy level?

"Well, from going home and staying up so late and the schedule’s grueling, I’m definitely tired this week. This was the first time I’ve ever fallen asleep, like I’d fall asleep in the Ford shoot or in rehearsals. I’ve never done that in my life.”

And now, let's hear from Jordin Sparks:

Is there a previous Idol you’d like to model your career after?
“I love Kelly Clarkson. I love her attitude and that she just stays the same no matter what. She’s amazing, a Grammy winner, beautiful. I want a career like that. Hello? Give me some tips … There are a ton of other Idols I look up to. I love all of them. I can’t name any more because I don’t want to leave anyone out.”

Simon Cowell has said some of your songs seem too old for you. What do you think?

“Half of me agrees and half of me is like, what am I going to do? I can’t help it if the songs I love are older or newer. I agree with him that it is more modern-day, so I understand that he wants me to sing stuff more people known. At the same time, if a song speaks to me, I’m going to want to sing it.”

Were you surprised by tonight’s results?
“It was one of those nights where anything could have happened, so I don’t know. I was very sad to see Melinda go, but she is going to be so fine. She is amazing and she is going to reach so many people and the world is going to be such a better place with her in it and singing her songs and what she wants to sing about.”

Is it the beat boxing skills? The boyish charm? The voice?

Whatever the reason, Blake Lewis makes the women swoon. It's pretty much a fact.

With that in mind, here are a few photos of the American Idol sensation. They're courtesy of his MySpace account.

It's too bad Antonella Barba go to this fine piece of singing meat first, isn't it, ladies?

Blake Lewis and Antonella Barba Lead American Idol Searches

Rumors have it that they're dating.

Moreover, search engine numbers prove that Blake Lewis and Antonella Barba are commonly searched for.

Yahoo! recently released a chart that outlined which contestants from this year's American Idol are most often looked up by Internet users. The three that have remained at the top of these rankings for a few weeks now are Blake, Antonella and Jordin Sparks.

Sparks and Melinda Doolittle, meanwhile, have gained momentum on Yahoo! more than other hopefuls over the last few weeks (as noted in the "Movers" chart below). What does this all mean?

Nothing, by itself. But it does give an indication that the final three contestants, as voted on by fans, are also being searched for quite a lot by individuals online.

Antonella Barba and Blake Lewis: American Idol Love Connection

There was talk that Chris Richardson was dating former contestant Alaina Alexander.

Now, here's a fresh American Idol rumor making the rounds: Is Blake Lewis going out with a certain, scantily clad singer from earlier this season?

During last week's show, featuring Bon Jovi, Antonella Barba sat in the audience. She remained quiet for most of the evening, until the end when cameras caught her and Blake making a romantic exchange. Here's what happened:

Blake blew a kiss to this lovely young lady. In return, she blew one his way, Lewis caught it and put it close to his heart.

Blake and Antonella?

This could mean almost anything, of course. But it's fun to speculate, isn't it? Do you think these two would make a good couple?

Blake Lewis Has a Rough, Tough, Beautiful Admirer

Blake Lewis is gaining fans across the country. Men, women ... wrestlers.

Or at least WWE Divas, as the females within the World Wrestling Entertainment world are known as. On the company's official website, one of these beautiful athletes recently mentioned a certain American Idol as her celebrity crush:

“Well, I don’t think this person is really a celebrity yet, but I think he’s cute. His name is Blake Lewis. He’s on American Idol. He’s the beatboxer. I like him. He’s got style. I like that,” Candice Michelle said.

As the picture below proves, Blake could do a lot worse than to have an admirer such as this:

American Idol Photoshop Fun: Blake Lewis and Chris Richardson Get Cozy

We know contestants grow close on American Idol.

But we somehow doubt Blake Lewis and Chris Richardson are this tight. While the original photo below was taken backstage at Idol, the doctored one has been making the rounds online over the last couple days.

We think it's pretty funny. We also think it would be even better if someone photoshopped Haley Scarnato pictures in a certain way ... if you know what we mean!

Blake Lewis Day Planned in Bothell

Lakisha Jones got her very own day.

So did Jennifer Hudson.

Now, Bothell, Washington is making sure another American Idol contestant is honored: The city is proclaiming April 11 as "Blake Lewis Day" in honor of its hometown beat boxer.
