  • The audition episodes will be reduced, while the pre-semifinal Hollywood round episodes will be increased;
  • The wild card round will return, giving eliminated contestants the chance to compete for one of the top 12 finalist spots;
  • The show's focus on bad auditions will be minimized;
  • And “Idol Gives Back,” the show's charity telethon, will not air this year due to the economy.

American Idol Spoilers: The Top 24 Photo!

Granted, this might be a bit misleading. All 24 finalists below are covering their faces with a Simon Cowell mask.

Nevertheless, this teaser picture does confirm a few of the spoilers we have previously written about. For example, that's gotta be Robbie Carrico with the long, blonde hair in the front row; and Jason Castro with the dreadlocks in the back...

Do you recognize anyone else? We've heard rumors that Luke Menard, Michael Lee Johns and David Cook are among the final 12 males.

American Idol Spoilers: Fantasia's Brother! A Lobster!

As American Idol gets set to premiere tonight, we've uncovered a pair of pictures from two hopeful contestants.

You should recognize at least one person in the first photo: yes, that's previous American Idol champion Fantasia. By her side is brother Ricco. He tries out during the initial round of auditions, but we've already heard Simon Cowell say he doesn't exactly measure up to his talented sibling.

Don't look for Ricco to advance very far.

Next, we come to Erin Hughes. The lobster outfit is cute, but costumes are typically symbolic of a lack of singing ability.

Leona Lewis Will Perform on American Idol

An American Idol insider has leaked a spoiler regarding one of this season's star performers: British singer Leona Lewis, winner of England's Idol equivalent, The X Factor.

“We always like to invite established guests onto the show to give the contestants an idea of the level they need to reach. Leona, with her incredible voice, fits the bill perfectly,” said the source.

The London lass, 22, whose album "Spirit" became the fastest selling UK debut ever, is dead set on establishing herself in the States in 2008.

“It’s really exciting but I’m just taking one step at a time," she recently said. "It’s a fresh start for me over there because they won’t know me from X Factor... It’s a new challenge but one that I’m excited about.”
