Wow. Just... wow!
Perhaps we underestimated him, even as he reached the finals, but we were shocked by tonight's announcement:
Kris Allen is the new American Idol!
Allen overcame Adam Lambert in the final pairing, as Kris' recent renditions of "Ain't No Sunshine" and "Heartless" likely propeled him to victory.
But enough from us. Were you happy with the outcome?

Kriss Allen should have been booted off American Idol long ago. Adam is tuely THE AMERICAN IDOL, I think SIMON had better find himself some real Judges..People who make accurate appraisals of a persons talent.
Kriss will be lucky if he sells a single record.

kris is such a light weight compared to adam, who brought life and love to a mostly boring show otherwise. the judges couldn't get out of their own ways; adam was SUCH a better singer, performer,presence than any of the others they either criticized him inapproriately, or then played catch up by acknowledging his prowess (making them seemed "biased" -- which is what judges should be!) one thing for sure -- the show has lost enormous credibility. their only hope is to limit voting so that it more accurately reflects who is most popular amongst their (already conservative leaning) audience. almost no one i know votes, but all watched just for adam. i know he's a superstar, but haven gotten sucked into the show basically to watch him perform -- and then seeing this result -- i think i am just through with it. why do they never even mention the inequity of allowing people to vote hundreds of times (true captialism, but not a fair contest!)? does this not invalidate their results in and of itself? some of us have lives beyond idol voting. a big victory for middle of the road mediocritytonight. very sad for the show and for adam, who gave us everything each and every performance. how amazing a talent he is.

Ditto, MEDIOCRITY says it all! I am so disgusted that I don't think I can get sucked-into american idol ever again! They keep saying that it is a "singing contest" and then this happens, what the f---? Don't you think that the time difference allows for the east and conservative south to cast more votes? Adam is my American Idol!!!!

American 9 to 11 yr old girls Vote Again....it has nothing to do with talent...it's embarassing how much better Adam is.I will never watch this show again.

i am teribbly dissapointed. american idol refers to talent in all aspects. Adam fulfils this citeria. Maybe once a while he overdo it with his screeching but overall he is a better performer and singer. Kris only appeals to the young girls who does not know the difference between talent and appeal. His singing is very bland... once a while only he hits with a good song.
I think American idol will lose its appeal and die off just like CSI.

To all the above, i agree Adam is so much better, but he will make it on his own and rise above kris.
