As has become the norm on American Idol, there was Adam Lambert... and then there was everyone else last night.
The singer kicked off an evening of rock 'n roll performances with a great rendition of "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin. The only problem, as Simon Cowell said, was that no other contestant would be able to match this opening number.
And none did.
Allison Iraheta did a solid enough job on a Janis Joplin tune; Kris Allen was out of his element, but tried to power through "Come Together" by The Beatles; and Danny Gokey pierced the ears of viewers forever with a painful scream to close Aerosmith's "Dream On."
Can we please hand Adam Lambert the title already?!?

That scream by Danny was HORRIBLE!!! I cannot believe he did that! Adam and Alison rocked the duet, and I have no words about Adam's solo, just hand him the title already.

Adam is good but what do you expect for someone who was professionally trained?

Kids aren't the only people watching American Idol. Yes Danny was out of his realm with the rock segment of the show, but he has has the best voice and personality of any other contestant. If Adam wins it will be because he's weird and gothic (too much makeup). Adam thinks he's just too wonderful and completely full of himself to say nothing of his weird look and ok voice. He's too theatrical. Send him to broadway!!!!!!!!!!!!! If he wins many people will stop watching Idol including myself. If Chris wins Idol it was a fair competition. He has also been himself and done a good job. Was Adam trying to look like an Elvis impersonator with the white suit and swaying walk down the stairs? if so he failed. Please put all of us out of our misery and get Adam off!

Adam is the best talent, by far, of any contestant ever on Idol. His voice has amazing range, he's charming, humble, and his performances are in a league of their own. He's worked most of his life for this and we are reaping the rewards, free of charge. He deserves to win, he's earned it. It is only because of his talent that the others have had to up their game. And he helps every one of them when they ask. Great guy, extraordinary talent. GO ADAM!!!
