American Idol Shocker, Take II: Carly Smithson Eliminated!
It wasn't as shocking as the elimination of Michael Johns, but we didn't imagine anyone except Brooke White would get ousted from American Idol this week.
Instead, Carly Smithson was shown the door.
We're flabbergasted. It's nice viewers felt bad for Brooke after she forgot the lyrics Tuesday night and all, but come on - it was her time to go. Smithson's performance of "Jesus Christ Superstar" was inspired in our view.

No! That is ridiculous! Now, I wonder if the show is rigged. Carly and David Cook should have been the finalists! Brooke is awful... this is not "American Pity" it is American Idol.... for her to not even be int he bottom three is insane and leads me to think this show is rigged and maybe not worth watching any more!

Poetic justice! A "professional" who didn't make it and tried AI as a last chance... She is not that bad, but she never won me over either. Good choice to go.

This week was awful! Someone needs to crack down on the show once and for all! How do the two people who did the absolute best last night, be in the bottom 2? Carly was the best vocalist in the whole competition..this crap needs to stop! Carly an inspiration and that voice brings chills to the body. American Idol lost a viewer tonight!

I definitely think there were/is weaker contestants on the show that should have gone. I feel Carly is actually the strongest female on the show!!! Cmon seriously America, you liked Brook white over her!!!!?

In consideration of Brook's performance last night, versus Carly's - yes its a shocker; but truth be told, America got it right on this one - maybe not their timing, but... Like Simon has said, Carly is a beautiful woman, and has a beautiful voice, but she is forgetable, whereas Brook is the next Carly Simon.If Idol were based on talent, and not popularity, then the top five would be David C at number one, David A, Michael Johns, Jason Castro and Brook White..with maybe a switch between David A and MJ..but American Idol being what it is, and not being based on talent as was clearer than cristal after Michael Johns's elimination,who knows what may come!? I sure have my fingers crossed for David C though...'cos although David A has a beautiful voice and is a 'cutie-pie', David C is the star here.

No way jose, Carly has fallen and annother victim of the American Popularity...ooops I mean American Idol machine has been lost. It's too bad "America" has no ability to judge anything.......at all...ever..Maybe if the tweens stop clogging up the phone lines with the bubblegum votes we might find another real Idol, like the 1st season. I always thought we were a little slow, and 36 million idiots just proved me right.
