Simon Cowell: A Big Fan of the Classics
With Season 6 coming up before you know it, song selection is paramount to any contender's chances. This year's American Idol hopefuls should start boning up on the classics, if judge Simon Cowell's favorite songs are any indication.
The sometimes surly Brit shared his playlist of all-time favorites on BBC Radio 4's "Desert Island Discs," revealing eight tracks that he couldn't live without if he were stranded in a remote area (which some fans undoubtedly wish here a reality). Only one, Daniel Bedingfield's "If You're Not the One," was released in the past 30 years.
Tops on Cowell's list is Bobby Darin's "Mack the Knife," which he called "the best song ever made, ever produced, ever sung."
Herb Alpert's "This Guy's in Love With You" is his pick for "sexiest song ever," while he named Charles Aznavour's "She" among "the most beautiful songs of all time." Cowell also said, according to MTV, that if given the choice of one item to bring to a deserted island, he'd choose a mirror.
Why? "Because I'd miss me."

I like that he's Honest! If your going to sit through hours and hours listening to see if ppl can sing you get tired of ppl that think they can when they can't it's a waist of time and he's HONEST. I like Simon!! CC

Im afraid im going to have to disagree with you there rory, i think that simon crushes peoples dreams and hopes of being big and thats just wrong! I am planning on entering the next series of "American Idol" and showing simon what im made of! beware mr cowell! Addy C is coming!

I think that simon is a patheic loser who only thinks of himsef and his cash. I think hes crap. I wanna see him sing better than anybody he ever insulted.

Well, I think that Simon actually isn't that bad. I really don't know why people hate him so much. Yes, it's true, sometimes he can be pretty harsh where it's not needed. But most of the time, he's right. Like take this week, for instance. When Blake sang "You Give Love a Bad Name", Simon said he sang it flat. I have to agree. Yes, the beatboxing was good, but the singing was... well... ughh! I think people are just to harsh on him because they like to prove hime wrong, just because he has a different opinion than them one time.
