  1. Linda Says:

Too bad Clay's involvement with these charities have only been manufactured public relations stunts to garner him good publicity. This is evidenced by publicly disclosable documents of Aiken's own charity that show that Clay has never even donated $5,000 or more to his own charity (The Bubel/Aiken Foundation).

  2. Jayne Nashville Says:

We knew this all along. Thanks for letting others know.

  3. judy Says:

thank you so much for your apologies....
as claymates, we thank you from the bottom of
our hearts....you see....we came for the voice, first....but we stay for the man....clay always said that he wanted to make a difference.....it's not "how" he makes it...just as long as he does.....your article clearly shows that clay is making a difference..in A Thousand Different Ways....
    thank you again...judy

  4. Susan Says:

"At last" - the old Etta James song - an apology for "dissin'" Clay & written acknowledgement of Clay Aiken's myriad charitable endeavors. Clay may not be perfect but he's in there tryig to make a positive difference and his record is pretty impressive for someone so new to celbrity. Thanks for taking the time to get the facts (there's more good stuff even than you reported) and thank you for the apology. Now stand back, y'all, when his new CD breaks and you'll see what a winner he is!

  5. deb Says:

Thank you for printing about the differene Clay is making, he challenges us all to make a difference and use our voice.
We should have more articles like this to challenge us all to make a difference, and we can all make it a better world.
Clay we did come for the voice but we stay for the Man.

  6. Helena Says:

You know, joan (see above post) said that Clay has put up with cheap shots from all over the media. I've always wondered what it is about him that makes him an easy target. Is it because he's just a nice guy who doesn't fit the celebrity mould? Is it because he endeavours to actually make a difference in the world? Is it simply because he totally ignores the cheap shots and the snide remarks aimed at him?

Well, whatever it is - it's about time those cheap shots stopped. Thank you for admitting that you've treated Clay and his fans less than fairly in the past and apologised. It's much appreciated.

And thank you for highlighting several of the things Clay has done in an attempt to make the world a better place. There's more to come from him yet. Much more - and I think a lot of people will be surprised.

  7. Cindy Says:

Clay aiken stands tall and have been doing charitable work forever. People only ridicule themselves when they try to take cheap shot at him. His fans knows what he is all about and he knows who he is. That's why he still have the biggest fan base of AI.

  8. susu Says:

Thank you for the nice article. We, his fans, have known this all along. We've learned a lot about Mr Aiken over the past 3 years. It all started with the VOICE and that wonderful Southern Charm, but we've also learned that he is so much more than a great entertainer. His humanitarian efforts and the fact that he is not afraid to show his deep faith makes him even more endearing. He certainly deserves much respect and I think that in the years to come, when more and more people get to "know" him, he will get the love and respect he so richly deserves. Until then, his fans lovingly support him 100% and always will.

  9. Debbie Says:

Thanks so much for finally admitting that Clay is often the object of "cheap shots". He takes the "humor" of others so well, that it's no wonder hs is the object of so much of it!

There aren't many men like Clay in our world today. I'm so thankful for him.

Thanks to you for recognizing all of his many charitable endeavors. He truly deserves our recognition and respect.

  10. Fely Says:

Thank you for giving Clay Aiken his due. I feel sorry for him because in spite of his goodness, others don't give him what he truly deserves. Why can’t they accept the fact that he stands for decency in the entertainment industry because he is an excellent performer with a wonderful glorious voice and an awesome role model. One reason I could think of is, he is a threat to others because of his swift stardom. His fans are embracing and supporting him faithfully because he deserves the best. We will never fall to the wrong track in following Clay, and his enemies will never succeed ruining his reputation. Clay will overcome all evil intentions against him, because we refuse to give up on his behalf. Go Clay!!!

  11. Mary Says:

Thank you for your apology and acknowledging Clay's charitable endeavors. He uses his wonderful voice in many ways to help others, especially children and encourages his fans to do the same. He deserves this recognition and he truly shows the "Measure of a Man".

  12. Joanne Says:

Many heartfelt thanks for reaching into your heart and discovering the realness that is 'Clay Aiken'.
Clay not only has the 'pipes of perfection', but the heart, soul and compassion for the needs of others !
He is such a ray of sunshine and a breath of fresh air in the music biz. Clay is a true testimony of God's love in action!

  13. Marie Says:

    You said it well,

You da man Clay! Isn't he just wonderful! Can't wait to here his new CD "A Thousand Different Ways" hopefully in a couple of months.

  14. Vickie Says:

Thank you so much for this. It's truly heartwarming to see someone step up and try to right a wrong.

I like that there is so much more that isn't trumpeted in the press....that he does under the radar, b/c he doesn't want the event to be about him. We end up hearing about it on the boards, but it is rarely reported.

I don't mind that he doesn't always get attention for all the good he does; it's also good to know that he doesn't seek it out.

But, to ignore it all and make him a punchline is a very different matter.

I hope more people will come to appreciate the good that he does.

  15. Betty Says:

This and more is why we love him!

  16. Judy Anderson Says:

    Apology accepted.....

Thankyou for acknowledging what Clay is all about...You see...his fans know this...and this is why we love this man so much....He is a class Act...Period.

    Thankyou.....so much!!
    Hugs,
    Judy

  17. Alice Says:

This was a beautiful write-up. Thank you for the apology and follow-up. It's amazing how much Clay has given to so many worthwhile and necessary causes. His beautiful heart may even be bigger than his beautiful voice! His talent knows no bounds, nor does his belief in and desire to help where help is needed.

    Thank you again.

  18. Dayna Serra Says:

Thank you so much. This is a long time coming....

I have always defended Clay to anyone who made a remark about him, but then I said "Ya know what???? WHAT-EVERRRR....I know the good things he's doing." I know his voice makes me feel like I'm floating in the air. What else could be better?

His fans knew he was something special from the moment he opened his mouth 3 years ago!!!!

2 words describe Clay best....CLASS ACT!!!!

    Dayna

  19. Sally Says:

Measure of a Man is what Clay is about.True Man with heart of gold.Thank you for your apology and acknowledging Clay’s charitable endeavors. He uses his wonderful voice in many ways to help others, especially children and encourages his fans to do the same.We all need to stick together for people who are doing good things for less
    fortunate. Go Clay!!

    Thank You,
    Sally

  20. Keri Says:

    Wow...I had no idea.

Good for him...traveling to Uganda and seeing what those kids endure just to survive takes a special kind of person.

  21. Veronica Says:

Thanks for the information on Clay Aiken. Recently I read an interview about another singer/entertainer, who is a megastar. He told of his drug use (without being asked),.. and when I heard his new single, which is trash I had to shake my head. What in the world has happened to make that right, and being a decent human being.... and a great singer to boot the object of ridicule? Looking forward to Clay's new single, and hoping against hope that this time he will get the airplay he deserves.

  22. CINDYANNE Says:

CLAY AIKEN IS NOT A CELEBRITY THAT TALKS THE TALK BUT, IS AFRAID TO WALK THE WALK! MANY STARS HAVE GONE OUT TO PROVE THEY ARE HELPING, THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS, THAT THEY TAKE A FULL CAMERA CREW! THAT TO ME , MAKES IT CLEAR TO ME IT IS MORE FOR PUBLICITY THAN FEELING, CLAY WENT, NO CAMERAS ROLLING, NO INTERVEIWS WITH FAMOUS NEWS MEDIA, HE WENT ALONE AND STILL FIGHTS FOR THE LESS FORTUNATE, BECAUSE HE CARES, AND THAT MY FRIEND, IS THE PERSON HE SHOULD BE KNOWN FOR! IT'S ABOUT TIME HE IS SEEN IN A NEW LIGHT & RESPECTED INSTEAD OF BEING THE BUTT OF A JOKE! HE HAS RELIGIOUS BELIEFS HE STAYS TRUE TO, AND TRUE FRIENDS & FAMILY THAT ARE REAL, NOT,OUT TO GET A PIECE OF HIM! THEY CARE, WE THE FANS CARE, AND BY THE WAY HIS VOICE IS GREAT!!!!

  23. Julie Says:

Great article. I kinda wish that the response to "don't be so mean to Clay Aiken" wasn't automatically "Clay Aiken does charity work", though. Not that it isn't appreciated, and definitely APOLOGY ACCEPTED, but how about it's wrong to take cheap shots at someone simply because it's WRONG, and not because the guy you were making fun of went to Uganda last year.

I also realize that I don't know exactly what "jokes" were made at his expense, since I don't see any other articles about him here. I can guess what they were in reference to, because that's ALWAYS what "cheap shots" are in reference to...but if I'm wrong, then I apologize.

  24. Donna Wallis Says:

Clay has shown by example that it is important to use your voice and make a difference. He makes a difference and encourages his fans to do the same. People from all over the country have worked many hours to raise money for causes close to Clay. Thank you for your great article!

    Donna

  25. Rebecca K. Says:

He DEFINATELTY deserves it, and it was very cool of you to write such a great piece! :)

    GO Clay!

    Thanx!
    Rebecca
